RONO HILLS, Mar 27: The Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) on Wednesday felicitated the outstanding achievements of students who excelled at the North East Games 2024, held in Nagaland from March 18 to 23.
In a ceremony held on the university campus, RGU's vice-chancellor, Prof Saket Khuswaha, honored Nyalin Basar and Joti Mane, both students of the B.P.Ed. programme, for their remarkable performance in Taekwondo and the 10,000-meter race, respectively, which led to their winning bronze medals.
Prof Kushwaha commended Basar and Mane for their dedication and hard work in representing the university at such a prestigious sporting event. He also highlighted the importance of sports in holistic development.
Furthermore, the vice-chancellor announced that the university would take measures to recognize and incentivize medal winners.
“They will be given priority for various employment opportunities, especially in fourth-grade jobs, and will receive support to nurture their sporting talent,” the vice-chancellor said.
The felicitation ceremony was attended by the Physical Education head of department Professor Sambu Prasad and other faculty members.
