ITANAGAR, Jul 20: Industries Minister Tamiyo Taga on Friday exhorted his departmental officers and industrial entrepreneurs to make tireless efforts to establish more small scale industries in the State.

Addressing an awareness programme-cum-workshop on North East Industrial Development Scheme (NEIDS) was on Friday conducted at a city hotel here, Taga informed that under Act East Policy of the NDA government at the Centre headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an amount of Rs 60,000 crore have been allocated for the NEIDS and the same should be implemented productively.

Taga announced that there are more than 100 schemes under the industrial policy of the NDA government and for the implementation of such schemes the officers and entrepreneurs are required to be well trained.

“Most of these schemes are related to bank loans, however, as some of the banking institutions are not cooperative with the beneficiaries, the same is not being implemented properly,” the minister observed.

Our state is suitable for canes, bamboo and agro-based industries so we should encourage small scale industries for the time being instead of large scale ones, Taga said.

Earlier, department of industrial policy and promotion, Government of India, under secretary, Arun Kumar spoke on seven incentives availed by an eligible industrial unit while state Commissioner (Industries) Marnya Ete and industries director, Rajiv Takuk also addressed the participants.

Besides officers and official from the industries department, a total of 130 local entrepreneurs were present in the day long workshop.
