DC urges active participation in LS polls

ITANAGAR, Apr 17: Itanagar Capital Region (ICR), Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta, has urged the citizens to actively participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on April 19, describing it as the largest festival of democracy.

She encouraged all eligible voters to exercise their right to vote and disclosed a list of alternate ID cards that can be used in case of absence of Elector's Photo Identity Card (EPIC).

These include Aadhaar card, PAN card, Unique Disability ID (UDID) card, service identity card, passbook with photo by bank/post office, health insurance smart card, driving license, passport, smart cards issued by RGI under NPR, pension document, and official identity card issued by MPs, MLAs, and MGNREGA job card.

The DC also appealed to citizens to cooperate with election officials and to avoid engaging in bribery, impersonation, or obstructing the polling team. She reminded voters that mobile phones are not allowed within a 100-meter radius of polling stations on polling day.

In preparation for the elections, the Capital Itanagar administration has declared April 17, 18, and 19 as dry days, along with June 2 for assembly polls and June 4 for Lok Sabha polls, which are the days of counting.

The administration has requested the cooperation of all citizens to ensure a successful election process.
