State celebrates 32nd Statehood Day Arunachal on road to progress: Governor

ITANAGAR, Feb 21: The 32nd Statehood Day was celebrated all over Arunachal Pradesh in all districts and administrative headquarters in a befitting manner on Tuesday.
To commemorate the occasion here, a three-day festival on the theme, Rising Arunachal, is being organised at the Indira Gandhi Park.
The festival is aimed at being projected as a symbol of multi-dimensional cultural identity, communal harmony, besides propagating the spirit of national integration. 
Governor Brig (Dr) B D Mishra (Retd) unfurled the Tricolour and declared the festival open in the presence of chief minister Pema Khandu, deputy chief minister Chowna Mein and other dignitaries. 
Addressing a mammoth gathering as the chief guest, Mishra said a new chapter of transformation is being written in the state with several achievements in different fields, adding that the state is on the path of rapid development. 
Stressing that coexistence and good social order are pre-requisites for sustained economic growth, he called upon one and all to ensure transparency and accountability in all dealings.
As a full-fledged state, he underscored, the actions initiated by those responsible must be for the benefit of the people of the state. 
Every penny spent from the Tax Payers money should be accounted for, he said. 
In his address, the governor also emphasised on five important issues, i.e. education, healthcare, developmental projects, self-employment and entrepreneurship and fight against drug and gun menace. He stressed that literacy rate of the state must be 100 percent for both men and women. As a social responsibility, every citizen and every teacher must ensure that every child has the opportunity to go to school particularly in far-flung areas.
The governor, while disclosing his interaction with Prime Minister during latter’s recent visit to Arunachal Pradesh regarding problem of late receipt of textbooks in secondary education said that the Prime Minister advised that the textbooks be uploaded on the internet to address the problem.
Stating that the higher education is the driving force of the society, the governor called upon the private universities to develop their infrastructure, library, classrooms, hostel and appoint good faculty to offer quality education. He said that state government is constituting a Monitoring Board to guide the universities and the private universities must avail the benefit from it.
Sharing his observations about health sector during his district tours, the Governor urged upon the medical officers to serve in the interior areas. He also suggested the people to practice Yoga and at the same time maintain cleanliness for good health.
While stating that any government can never provide jobs to every needy person, the governor emphasized on skill development, self employment and entrepreneurship. He advised the youth to avail subsidized loans and other schemes provided by the Government and start up one’s own business work. Organic farming, orchid growing, floriculture, orange, bamboo, handloom & handicrafts fields offer great opportunities to our youth to flourish and prosper.Sharing his concern and pains about the drug menace and gun culture in some parts of the state, the Governor called all the political leaders, government officials, Goan Burahs, Panchayat members and common citizens to join hands together and fight against drug menace and gun culture.   
The Governor, who has been keen on the recruitment of local youth of Arunachal Pradesh in the Indian Army, informed that 3000 youth have filled up online forms for 350 vacancies in the Indian Army this year and he will try for more vacancies in the coming years, which was received with huge applauds from the audiences. 
He extended his appreciation to the Deputy Commissioners and Indian Army for the motivating the youth in the recruitment process. The Governor pointed that ‘home grown’ soldiers are the best for safety and security of the State and the country.
The Governor released the Statehood Day souvenir and launched the ‘Saubhagya Scheme’- Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana on the occasion.
He then presented the ‘Arunachal Ratna’ awarded posthumously to Ashoka Chakra awardee Havildar Hangpan Dada to Chasen Lowang, wife of late Havildar Dada. 
The governor also presented state gold medals to 46 awardees, silver medals to 51 awardees and three Chief Minister’s Excellence Award in Civil Service on the occasion. 
First Lady of State Neelam Misra, chief minister Khandu, members of cabinet, government officials and public attended the function.
Seppa: Statehood Day was celebrated at various places of East Kameng District as well on Tuesday. 
At the district headquarters Seppa, Statehood Day a variety of spectacular activities were organized which enthralled the audiences who had come from various walks of life to witness the celebration. 
Wishing the people on the auspicious day, Parliamentary Secretary for Tax and Excise Tapuk Taku summarized about the various socio-economic development activities undertaken by different department of the district. He apprised the people about various achievements, especially on education, health and infrastructure fronts, made so far in the district. 
Praising the pro-development attitude of NDA govt. under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Taku highlighted about major upcoming projects in the district and urged the people and govt. officials to cooperate and work in tandem for all round development of the district. 
Further, Taku exhorted the government departments and staffs to exhibit diligence, competence and coordination in works and urged them to exert more for better and timely delivery of public services. He urged the students to imbibe good habits and manners and to study hard. He appealed them and the people to shun and avoid bad and criminal practices in order to make a better society.
Rhythmic march-past by vibrant police personnel and spellbinding cultural display by energetic school children, and tug-of-war game between officers and GBs were the highlight of the day.
DC Gaurav Singh Rajawat, SP Vikas Kumar, ZPC Mering Natung, WWO President Veena Waii Sonam, HoOs, PRI leaders, public, school children and host of govt. officials were also present in the programme.
Earlier in the day, a marathon race to inculcate and promote sports amongst the youth under “Run for Sports” was also organized.
Statehood Day was also celebrated at ADC headquarters of Chayangtajo, Bameng and Seijosa.
Bomdila:
Along with the rest of the state, the 32nd Statehood day was celebrated in a befitting manner at district headquarters Bomdila.
West Kameng DC Dr Sonal Swaroop, in her address urged the people to ensure preservation of traditional culture as well as the natural environment.
She also highlighted the various welfare measures of the state government and further urged all parents to ensure that their children are administered the MR vaccines.
There was a colourful display of cultural events by the school children along with various sports event and a pipe band display by the 9 Kumaon Regiment.
Tawang: The 32nd Statehood Day was celebrated with great fanfare at different parts of Tawang district on Tuesday. 
At the district headquarters, the day began with a procession carried out by students, officers, officials and public of Tawang from DCs office to the celebration venue at Parade Ground where the national flag was unfurled by DC Tawang Sang Phuntsok. 
Addressing the mammoth gathering, Phuntsok called upon everyone to maintain the spirit of bonhomie and harmony and be equal partners in the path towards development. 
He highlighted on important Central and state flagship schemes and elaborated on steps being taken by the government in the development front. 
Reflecting on the progress made in the district during the last one year at various fronts, he apprised the audience regarding the important projects that are coming up with an aim to boost the economy of the area. 
At Roing: 
ZPC Sipi Elapra unfurled the national flag here as a large number of school children, government officers and officials, HoDs, PRI members and public gathered at the general ground to celebrate 32nd Statehood Day. 
Also present on the occasion were, Rajya Sabha MP Mukut Mithi and ADC Cheshta Yadav.
Wishing everyone on the occasion, ZPC Elapra acknowledged the support of one and all in taking the district forward towards the path of development and progress.
Elapra paid particular emphasis on the need of the youngsters to stay away from drugs and such substances. She said that the drugs menace is gripping the young generation and causing social disturbance and a lack of direction, which is a loss for the family and society. 
She encouraged all to work together to fight against this menace saying that family and NGOs should guide the youth and show them the right path. 
A marathon with the motto ‘Run for Sports’ was also organized by the department of sports and youth affairs and the district administration on the occasion. 
Aalo:  
Aalo also on Tuesday celebrated the 32nd Statehood Day in a befitting manner at the general ground. 
The day began with mass social service at respective offices, colonies and sectors which was followed by a mini- marathon for boys and girls. 
ZPC Yaman Bagra graced the occasion as chief guest and unfurled the tricolor and took salute from the APP contingents. 
Giving her goodwill message to the people of west Siang, she exhorted the public to remember those leaders who have sacrificed their lives to achieve statehood and that on the attainment of statehood Arunachal has been able to make independent decisions for its people. 
She spoke of the various Central and state government schemes that people could avail.  The ZPC later gave away the commendation certificate to all dedicated govt. officials and prizes for marathon race and other events held on the day.
At Yupia:
Papum Pare deputy commissioner Tai Kaye unfurled the national flag amidst a huge gathering here on Tuesday which declared open the 32nd statehood day celebrations. 
Addressing the people, Kaye said that statehood day is moment to rejoice and rededicate our commitment towards peace and development of our state. 
“Our district Papum Pare and state as a whole is progressing in all fields and it is our duty and responsibility to make our Arunachal a well developed state in the days to come,” he said while adding that all flagship programmes of the Central and state governments are being implemented successfully in the district. 
The DC further called upon all to maintain cleanliness in their respective localities, including villages, schools and all important institutions to make the district clean and beautiful.
The chief guest then gave away the People’s award to awardees.
Ziro:
Lower Subansiri too celebrated the 32nd Statehood Day in a befitting manner. In Ziro, Zilla Chairperson, Hage Kobin attended the program as chief guest during which he called upon the youths to imbibe positive thinking and be part of the development process. He further highlighted the status and progress of various flagship programs of government of India. 
Also as a part of the celebration, the District Legal Services Authority, Ziro conducted a mass legal awareness camp for all the HoDs, officials, goan buras and buris and staff. 
Tezu:
The 32nd Statehood Day was celebrated here at Jubilee Ground here. 
Addressing a large gathering, DC Karma Leki appealed for peace and equanimity in trying times. Referring to the recent incident of mob lynching, Leki said that law and order must not be taken into one’s own hands. He said due process of law must be allowed to take place. 
He further appealed all the PRI leaders, gaon burahs and Public Leaders to cooperate and help stop rumour mongering. 
The celebration began with a band display by VKV Tafragam students. Numbers of dance presentations were made by Mishmi, Idu Mishmi, Wancho and Adi cultural troupes. 
The DC later gave away the prizes for recently held mini marathon race by the sports department. 
Later, a friendly tug of war competition was held between the DC’s XI and Public Leaders’ XI in which the latter won. 
Pasighat:
Along with rest of state, East Siang too on Tuesday celebrated the 32nd Statehood Day with enthusiasm at the IGJ playground here. 
The national tri-colour was hoisted by the East Siang deputy commissioner Tamiyo Tatak in presence of Nari MLA Kento Rina, SP Prashant Gautam, ZPC Kaling Dai, PMC chief councillor Kaling Doruk etc.
In his address, DC Tatak appraised the gathering on various development activities undertaken by the government departments at district level and appealed the citizens to extend full cooperation to the administration in making East Siang a smart district in all fronts. 
“It is the responsibility of all, administration, leaders and common citizens too to speed up the pace of development,” he said. 
The DC also urged the citizens to cooperate the Civic Body and administration in the formation process of Smart City and informed that Civil Terminal would functional shortly for commercial flights soon.  
Other highlights of the day were cultural presentation by different cultural troupes showcasing the state’s rich cultural diversity. 
Namsai:
The district of Namsai also celebrated the 32nd Statehood Day with pomp and gaiety. 
The celebration started with a mini-marathon themed “Run for Sports” organized by the department of sports in which a total of 132 runners participated. 
The run was flagged off by DC R K Sharma.
Later the tricolor was unfurled by Divisional Commissioner (East) Bolung Siram who was the chief guest for the day. 
Main attraction of the day was a Hastkala Sahyog Shivir conducted by the department of Textiles, Govt. of India in collaboration with district’s Textile and Handloom deparment. Altogether 700 artisans participated in the programme. 
Itanagar:
To mark the 32nd Statehood Day celebrations, the BN Youth Club (BNYC) in collaboration with members of the All Bengali Welfare Federation (ABWF) organized a cleanliness drive at Chimpu here on Tuesday.
During the drive the, volunteers appealed the general public and students not to throw or dump garbage in the river.
